All bar the last of these Airs were drawn from Patrick MacDonald’s Collection of Highland Vocal Airs, of 1784. Chisholm came into a copy of this as a boy and it stayed with him for the rest of his life, heavily annotated and used extensively for his Celtic Song Book, for piano pieces and other works.
