Volunteering in the Archives
We have a number of volunteering opportunities in the Scottish Music Centre’s archives. If you are interested in gaining experience working within an archive and music centre, we’d love to hear from you!
We’re excited to hear about your interests and skills, and how they can support the sustainability and accessibility of our archive. Below are some of the areas of our work that volunteers can engage with:
Cataloguing scores, recordings and books
Reshelving and numbering within our onsite-storage
Digitising audio from a range of analogue formats including cassette, vinyl, reel-to-reel and minidisc
Digitising scores from our archives
Conducting research on composers represented in our archive to assist in creating finding tools for external researchers
Typesetting scores from manuscripts using Sibelius to create performance editions
Please get in touch if you have other areas of interest other than those above and we’ll see if we can find something to suit you.
If you’re interested in volunteering, please send a short cover letter (no more than 1 page) and CV to info@scottishmusiccentre.com
