The Helen Hopekirk Festival will take place across Edinburgh and Glasgow in May 2026, marking the 170th anniversary of the birth of Portobello-born composer and pianist Helen Hopekirk.

Once a celebrated performer and soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Hopekirk’s music has faded into obscurity in her homeland, despite a body of work that includes more than 100 compositions.

The Festival features concert, a guided walk, talks and a Competition for young performers to celebrate Helen’s music.
