SMIA Sessions: Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression in the Music Industry

12/03/2026

Glasgow

Content note: This session includes discussion of racism, oppression and historical violence.

Ahead of the soon to be published Scottish Music EDIA Manifesto and Action Framework, the Scottish Music Industry Association (SMIA) is hosting a free full-day Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression in the Music Industry training session, delivered by Briana Pegado, Founder of Good Trouble Co.

This session is open to SMIA members only. Places are limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Advance booking is required.

This training is designed for artists, managers, music organisations, freelancers, venues, labels and industry professionals working across Scotland’s music sector. The session will provide historical context, practical tools and structured reflection to support participants in developing an active anti-racist practice within their work and workplaces.

Delivered across eight modules, the day will include slides, facilitated discussion, individual reflection, group exercises and video content. The session will be trauma-informed, care-led and participatory in approach
