The Glasgow Barons

The Glasgow Barons are a flexible orchestral ensemble based in Govan, run by Paul MacAlindin and Campbell Parker. We want to regenerate Govan through folk enjoying, making and creating music.

Founded in 2017, the charity has three strategic arcs:

First, we put on performances across many genres around Govan to bring diverse audiences together, reimagine folks' experience of this historic area, and help build new social cohesion.

Second, we help folk locally and across Glasgow create and perform their own music by working in one geographic community, Govan, and three citywide communities of interest: asylum seekers and refugees, those recovering from addiction and schools in the council's Baby Strings programme.

Third, we pay local folk to help us deliver on our charitable objectives, as part of The Scottish Government's community wealth building and 20 minute neighbourhood strategies.

We are recipients of the Scottish Urban Regeneration Forum's Creative Regeneration Award
