YMI CPD’s impact

A.W.: SARANGI & HINDUSTANI SINGING LESSONS

At present, the ethnic diversity that does exist in the Highlands is not yet well enough reflected in the musical and wider environment, so it feels meaningful to have taken this training and I hope this contributes in the future to more diverse music happening in the Highlands.

S.G.: MASCHINE/ABLETON COURSE

…this gives more tools for me to work with, to expand the experience of young people, to give them access to high quality equipment and software and the skills to use it. This increases confidence, life chances & opportunities for them and strengthens the sector.

F.H.: ONLINE ONE-TO-ONE MENTORING

This project has reinforced for me the importance of composition education in youth music as it promotes music making that is collaborative and empathic.

S.S.: SAN FRANCISCO ORFF MUSIC SCHOOL COURSE

I was very keen to share some of the new material that I had learned, and in both groups, the new rhythms and games were met with great enthusiasm and joy. It was great to see the young people engaging with exciting, new rhythms that brought such fun and joy to them.

It will make me a better, more rounded group music facilitator, it will give me more variety of material to teach, and it will enrich the youth music sector by introducing a rich heritage of West African cultural music

M.M.: ESTILL FIGURE PROFICIENCY COURSE

My CPD activity will undoubtedly strengthen my learning and teaching methodologies, enhancing the learning experience for young people and expanding their knowledge and enjoyment of music.
