Salary: £29,000 (pro rata) depending on experience

Scottish Opera seeks to appoint a Touring Manager who is responsible for all aspects of the tour planning and management of Scottish Opera’s small-scale touring productions.

The Touring Manager is required to be available to tour with the Company throughout Scotland for approximately 12 weeks per annum, leading the touring team and acting as an ambassador for Scottish Opera. Opera Highlights, Scottish Opera’s small-scale touring production during the 2019/2020 Season, will visit 34 communities over the course of the Autumn and Spring touring periods. The Touring Manager will oversee day-to-day requirements and be responsible for ensuring the welfare of the touring company.

An additional 21 weeks contract time is allocated to provide for tour planning and preparation, and for the Touring Manager to be available to the touring company in advance of and during the rehearsal period prior to each tour.

The total contractual commitment of the role is 33 weeks per annum. Flexible working hours outwith fixed rehearsal and performance periods will be possible for an experienced candidate and consideration will be given to management of contract time as part of the interview process.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate calm leadership, be extremely well organised, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure. Small-scale touring experience and a willingness to spend time exclusively on tour and away from home base is essential. A driving licence is also required.

The position is based at Scottish Opera’s headquarters in central Glasgow.
