'I was motivated to compile this book of tunes when Donald Shaw asked me to write a New Voices Commission, Passing Places, for 2009's Celtic Connections. Not only was this the perfect opportunity to write new music, but it also brought to light how much writing I had already done.
'Many of the tunes included in this book were written for the Commission. There are also a few tunes that have never been played before and others from previous recordings with The Anna Massie Band and Box Club.'
