"Dunedin Consort is in a different league from other choirs or vocal ensembles. The precision of their singing, the perfect blend of sound, the ability to bring out a solo part and merge back into the ensemble [is] second nature to them" - Press and Journal
The Consort takes its name from Edinburgh's castle (Eidyn's Din) and, like the famous landmark, has great cultural significance in Scotland's capital city. With a strong local following, Dunedin Consort is also committed to providing the wider Scottish community with a vocal group of outstanding quality: in the past year alone, it has toured Dornoch, Dunkeld, Haddington, Inverness and Kirkwall with a programme of sixteenth century music, and has performed in Arran, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Oxford and Whithorn.
Formed in 1996 by Ben Parry and Susan Hamilton, the group has garnered a first-class international reputation and performs across the UK and abroad, most recently at music festivals in Canada, Italy, Spain and France.
Dunedin Consort numbers three to sixteen professional singers from across Britain, and the artistic forces for each project are chosen according to repertoire by the group's Artistic Directors, Susan Hamilton and Professor John Butt (University of Glasgow).
