A group of Scotland’s best-known local radio stations began broadcasting the same programmes this month.

The five stations owned by the Bauer Media Group, including Northsound 2, based in Aberdeen, and Tay AM, in Dundee, will broadcast largely the same output from now on, except for breakfast shows and local news.

It is not yet known how many jobs will be lost due to the amalgamation of programming.

Graham Bryce, Bauer Media’s managing director for Scotland, said: “Our strategy is to grow the long-term listenership of our AM stations and we’re confident the changes, along with this new role, will improve the quality of the product and build listenership as we transition the station to digital.”
