The goNorth event, now in its ninth year, serves as a platform to support and develop the wider creative industries, including art, film, fashion and literature.

As well as a host of up-and-coming bands playing a variety of venues, this year's goNorth programme also saw a wealth of free panels and workshops taking place on subjects ranging from how to get a gig to masterclasses with production designer Mark Leese and writer Bernard MacLaverty.

Adding to this, a number of the acts shortlisted were asked to perform at the goNorth stage at RockNess, joining the higher echelons of stardom on the bill featuring The Prodigy, Biffy Clyro and Dizzee Rascal, to name but a few.
