The internationally renowned Scottish Fiddle Orchestra announced its Homecoming concert in Dumfries at DG One leisure complex in October. Performers will gather together for the event from all over Scotland, including places as far away as Aberdeen, Ayr and Inverness as well as Edinburgh and Glasgow and other parts of the UK. The event will feature the Orchestra’s Homecoming show, with items celebrating Robert Burns as well as a traditional mix of lively reels, marches, dances, songs, and heart-rending slow airs.
The orchestra will be conducted by musical director John Mason MBE, and by the deputy conductor, Blair Parham and the compere for the evening, with his wonderful sense of humour, will be Jim McColl MBE of the BBC’s Beechgrove Garden.
“If you have not experienced the SFO before, this is the opportunity to find out for yourself why people come back year after year, and travel such long distances, to their concerts,” said a spokesperson.
