A Scottish children's orchestra, based on a pioneering Venezuelan project, marked its first birthday with the release of its debut recording. Children of the Big Noise Orchestra, from Raploch, in Stirling, have created a mobile phone ringtone which will be available to download.

More than 200 children from the Raploch estate are involved in the scheme, which aims to transform the lives of deprived youngsters through music. They have been working with a team of professional musicians, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, to learn instruments such as the violin, viola and cello.
