Glasgow To Cash In With The Mobos

On 30 September, national events agency Event Scotland and Glasgow City Marketing Board with the support of Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Government brought the prestegious Mobo (Music of Black Origin) Awards to Glasgow.

The event was held in the SECC was the first time the major awards ceremony had been staged outside London in its 13-year history. A glittering line-up of musicians descended on Glasgow with top R'n'B, rap and soul stars such as Snoop Dogg, Rihanna and Alesha Dixon already nominated for awards.

Scott Taylor, chief executive of GCMB stated, "We view hosting the Mobos as a major opportunity to showcase Glasgow's music and style credentials to a global audience."
