The PRS Foundation for New Music (PRSF) is looking for adventurous and innovative commissions for high quality music for its New Works scheme.
Across the UK organisations are working closely with music creators to devise exceptional new music in many different styles. They attract inquisitive and inspired audiences who want to hear the best music being written today.
Last year’s successful applications included Dundee City Council, who commissioned a piece of music by electronic composer Alex Smoke (Alex Menzies) to be premiered at the Designs for Life symposium; a combined puppet / live-action version of Shakespeare's The Tempest by Brighton-based musician/composer Ed Briggs’ using 'unconventional instruments', electronics and tape; and a commission for Michael Finnissy to write a large scale opera for secondary school students in the West Midlands.
“The range and quality of commissioning in the UK is invigorating to all those who enjoy new music,“ said Charlotte Ray, Director of the PRSF.
The two deadlines for applications for the New Works award are 25 April and 17 October.
You cannot apply to Awards for New Works if you have applied, or intend to apply, to our other major funding schemes in 2008.
