Following a successful collaboration at the 2007 Edinburgh International Festival, Hebrides Ensemble welcomes back mezzo-soprano Jane Irwin to perform works by Respighi, Schoenberg and Martin Suckling in settings of poems by Shelley, George and Bateman. Romanticism and Modernism combine in these explorations of love and loss. The programme will also include works by eminent composers Lutoslawski, Berio and Benjamin. Jane Irwin has sung regularly in Britain and Europe, and the USA. She has sung for the BBC Proms, at the Edinburgh International Festival, the Berlin Festival, the Concertgebouw and the Musikverein with many of the top orchestras and conductors.
