Programme Note
The title refers to the peculiar quality of grace-notes, which notionally - notationally - take up no musical time at all: but in performance of course they take up as much sound-space as any other notes. The piece plays with the relationship between `real' time - rhythmically notated; and `imaginary' time - occupied by grace-notes, which appear sometimes singly, sometimes in long streams.
