Programme Note
Eastern Echoes has no specific folk references but is inspired by memories of performing with Mamta Yadav, the Indian singer, Moustafa el Kurd, the Palestinian lute player and the Glasgow Jewish Choral Society. Through an improvisatory style and dialogue the piece develops its own character. It was composed for the Hand / Feinstein Duo in 1991.
