This set of short pieces was composed in August 1967 for my brother Desmond who was learning piano at the time, aged 14. I bring all five together again following the separate publication of pieces 1 and 2 (Bosworth) and piece 5 for the Trinity grade exam list, to facilitate their performance as a set and show more clearly the contrasts in mood. I made neat, handwritten copies of the two unpublished pieces in November, 2002.
