This Twisted Tale
Edinburgh Festival Fringe
The Paper Doll Militia

Out of the Blue, Drill Hall, Edinburgh - £12/£9.50
Fringe Box Office: 0131 226 0000 / www.edfringe.com

Direct from San Francisco, this modern fairy tale fuses aerial acrobatics, original music, animation and puppetry. With airborne physicality, this dark tale describes a strange encounter between a little girl and the Devil. The set comes alive with high-octane movement on invented aerial apparatus: a streetlamp, monkey bars and a chain swing. This original script is hauntingly emotional, using subversive subject matter to create a magical and violent performance. Co-directed by Ben Harrison and the Paper Doll Militia, music composed by David Paul Jones. This is where theatre meets circus. (Oakbook Magazine)

Between the dusk and the dark, what terrors lie? Join multi award-winning Fringe heroes Grid Iron and composer/pianist David Paul Jones on a journey through life. And death. What happens when our spirit leaves? What mark is left on the world? And what are the connections between the human body and the body of a piece of music? Is the precision required of a surgeon the same precision required to realise a Ravel Concerto? As the sustain pedal is released on the dying notes of a sonata, what remains? The most sophisticated site-specific makers in Europe. (Times)
