Many pieces written for friends or special occasions using small forces and of individual nature. Several commissions for similar works. Most extensive work Burns Lieder (75 songs in twelve volumes, voice specified). Burns' original tunes and lyrics with composed piano accompaniments. Has been recorded on CD by Catherine Wilmers (Sontag 2 for cello). 2002 CD performance of "O Can ye Sew Cushions" - Helen Callus, Viola and Robert MacDonald, Piano.
