Claire Griffin (b.1980) comes from Dublin where she developed an interest in composition after studying French Horn and Piano at the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

She studied music at University College Cork and Royal Holloway University of London and in 2004 completed her Mmus in composition at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama where she studied with Rory Boyle.

Her works have been performed by the Hebrides Ensemble, Paragon Ensemble, Meadows Chamber Orchestra, London Sinfionetta, Thistle Brass, Regal Brass and the Ecoute Ensemble.

Claire composed the score for the film The Pristina Sacrifice (by director Robin Gray) which received the award of “Best Artistic Vision” at the Vermont International Film Festival, Canada 2003.

Recent performances include two premieres, Awkward Beauty (trumpet trio) and A Beautiful Peagreen Boat (flute and harp) at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival performed by the Scottish Trumpet Ensemble and Hoot Ensemble.

Currently, the composer is working on a community based commission with the Paragon Ensemble and an education based project with the Ebony Duet.
