John Gormley b. 1975

John Gormley studied at the University of Glasgow gaining an M.A. in Music. After graduating in 1995, he continued his studies in composition with Graham Hair, gaining an M.Mus. in 1997. He also gained an M.Sc. in Information Technology in the same year. He is currently a Ph.D. student in composition at the R.S.A.M.D studying with Gordon McPherson. John has had compositions performed by several groups, including Cappella Nova, Scottish Voices and Glasgow Univeristy Chapel Choir as well as commissions from the Dunedin Consort and St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral Glasgow.

As an organist he has played for many BBC religious broadcasts. He has been organist and choirmaster at Sherbrooke-St. Gilbert's Parish Church since June 1998 and from 2000-2003 was also assistantorganist at St. Mary's Episcopal CathedraL. Since October 1998 John has been a part-time tutor/lecturer in the Department of Music. He also teaches piano at St Aloysius' College and Theory & Musicianship at the Junior School of the RSAMD.

Born in Glasgow in 1975, John Gormley studied at the University of Glasgow gaining an M.A. in Music. After graduating in 1995, he continued his studies at postgraduate level, gaining an M.Mus. in composition and an M.Sc. in Information Technology in 1997. John held both the Organ Studentship (1993-1995) and Organ Scholarship (1995-1997) at the University.

John has been organist at Sherbrooke-St. Gilbert's Parish Church since June 1998 and assistant organist at St. Mary's Episcopal Cathedral since October 2000. He has played for many BBC Radio religious Broadcasts.
