Glasgow Music City Tours

Glasgow Music City Tours provide guided walking tours of Glasgow's music scene, past and present.

Glasgow Music City Tours run guided walks exploring the city’s music scene. By visiting existing venues and disturbing the ghosts of former performance spaces, we tell the story of the people who have stayed, played and made music in Glasgow, the first UK location awarded UNESCO City of Music status.

Launched in 2015, our tours celebrate both Glasgow’s contemporary music scene and its musical heritage. Our enthusiastic guides are musicians and music writers who have been immersed in Glasgow’s music for a long time. They have been there, heard that and scored the set list at the end of the gig.

The tours are story-led so as to appeal to both knowledgeable music fans and more casual guests. They are also designed to be as much fun for Glasgow residents as they are for visitors. Our Glaswegian guests have told us that we have helped them see their city in a new way while visitors are taken away from the more well-worn tourist paths.

As well as operating weekly scheduled tours for the public, we run guided tours for the travel industry, schools and further education establishments. We also work with Glasgow Life and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau to promote Glasgow as a music city. Over the last few years, we have operated tours tailored to dovetail with events such as Celtic Connections, the Merchant City Festival and Glasgow Jazz Festival.
