Little is known about the life of Robert Carver, whose work represents one of the finest examples of unaccompanied choral music of Renaissance Europe. His music survives in a manuscript in the National Library of Scotland and consists of five masses (including the Missa `Dum sacrum mytserium' for ten voices, and the Missa `L'Homme armZ
