Day and boarding, providing music and academic education to instrumentalists, composers and singers, and the choristers of St Mary's Cathedral. 60 pupils, aged 9-19. Entry by audition at any stage. Government funding (up to 100%) available. Saturday morning community music classes. Music tuition includes daily aural training, singing, written and practical harmony, individual instrumental lessons and composition, orchestras, choirs, ensembles, chamber music, jazz, improvisation, Alexander Technique, Scottish traditional music. The jazz programme began in 1997. Emphasis on practical music making for all instruments. Senior and Intermediate ensembles and blues based Primary 7 Band.
