John Collett 1753 - 1775

Born in London. His father, violinist Richard Collett, introduced to the Royal Society of Musicians at an early age. John Colletrt's 2 major compositions were Six Solos for Violin and Harpsichord (1758), and Six Symphonies Op 2 (1766). The Symphonies are dedicated to his friend Thomas Erskine, Earl of Kelly. Collett moved up tp Scotland in 1770 and settled in Aberdeen. In 1774, he wrote a Set of Overtures, and Two Cantatas for the Edinburgh Musical Society.
