Work notes

This slow march for strings is the first variation of a set written by several composers (MacMillan, Osborne, Cresswell et al) for the Centenary of Edinburgh University Music faculty in February 1994. The theme is "The Garb of Old Gaul", by General John Reid, whose bequest made the foundation possible.
