Programme Note

'O Friend! In the garden on thy heart plant naught but the rose of love'
(Bahá'u'lláh)

Written for my brother, Jonathan, and his wife Elizabeth on the occasion of their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, 'Salut d'Amitié' is a celebration not only of their lasting companionship, but also of their frequent musical appearances as a violin/piano partnership. This small contribution to their repetoire is also a humble tribute to Elgar's sublime 'Salut d'Amore', which Jonathan always performs so rapturously.
